How can I turn on/off notifications?

How to turn on or off notifications within the Swing app

Text notifications

Please note that you can not have both text and app notifications on simultaneously. If you don't know how to turn off app notifications, feel free to delete and redownload the Swing app. When you open the app, do NOT press the "Allow Notifications" button, as that will turn app notifications back on.

How To Turn On Push Notifications on a Smartphone (Step-By-Step)

1. Open The Swing App
2. Click on the "More" tab (3 dots)

3. You should see the "Notification" settings that you can select.
4. From the tab, you will see "Allow Notifications" then press "Allow Notifications"

5. You'll be prompted to confirm allowing Push (app) or SMS (text) notifications
Once you selected your preferred notifications, click the "save" button to confirm your notifications.

Will text notifications get sent to my number?

Yes, as long as you verify and confirm your phone number, you will receive text notifications. If your phone number is not verified, you will need to verify it on your Swing account before SMS text notifications can be sent.

Can I have both app notifications and texts?

You cannot have both text and app notifications. You will need to choose which is best for you.

What type of notifications will I receive?

You will receive notifications when:

A new request is posted by one of your schools
You add yourself to the sub waitlist for a request
You are confirmed to fill a request
You cancel a request you’re confirmed to fill

Do I get different notifications via text than the app?

No. You should expect to be notified of the same type of sub-requests.

Why am I not immediately getting notified for requests I see on Swing?

This is normal. Requests are posted on the Swing app and Swing website before they start notifying via text/app notifications. All notifications are sent in random order starting with those who are rising and Swing Heroes. Those notifications cease as soon as a sub accepts or signs up for the waitlist to a request. If the request is available on the platform and you did not get a notification you can still accept the request.

Why am I not seeing any texts from Swing?

Some phone carriers may block 5-digit "shortcode" messages. If you are not getting texts from Swing, we recommend calling your carrier and asking them to unblock 5-digit "shortcode" numbers.
If you downloaded the Swing app and enabled push notifications, teaching requests will be sent via app notifications. Check the notifications settings on your phone to confirm you have notifications for the Swing app turned on.
If you disable your notifications, you will not receive any teaching notifications at all.
Please be aware of any upcoming holidays, winter, or summer break which can account for a lack of open requests.

Can I enable app and text notifications on the Swing website?

You can only enable text notifications from the desktop site. Push (app) notifications must be enabled directly through the Swing app.

Swing Education -- Short Code SMS notifications Terms of Service

You can expect to receive SMS notifications via the shortcode 79464 from Swing Education to: a. Inform you about new requests that have been created b. Acknowledgements and confirmation messages when you accept or cancel requests
You can cancel the SMS service at any time. Just text "STOP" to the shortcode. After you send the SMS message "STOP" to us, we will send you an SMS message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed. After this, you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. If you want to join again, just sign up as you did the first time, and we will start sending SMS messages to you again.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
As always, message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from us and to us from you. You will receive messages for requests that you are eligible for, which can fluctuate widely depending on the region you're in, the time of year, and your qualifications (0-100 per day).
